hair serum diy

Part of me is hesitant to post about this serum. It is really good and I probably should be selling this stuff! As I mentioned a couple weeks ago, I have been using rosemary, geranium, and lavender essential oils in my hair instead of a serum. It has been great but I am using a lot of it pretty quickly so I thought I would look into making an actual serum that would last longer. I researched oils and ingredients that are natural, good for the hair, and do not leave it feeling oily (I hate when my hair dries only to find out I have put too much product in it and it looks greasy!).  Not to toot my own horn but I am pretty proud of what I came up with here!

Ingredients:

  • 4 teaspoons avocado oil
  • 4 teaspoons jojoba oil
  • 8 tablespoons aloe vera juice
  • 30 drops rosemary essential oil
  • 30 drops geranium essential oil
  • 2 tablespoons purified water

Instructions:

Combine! Shake well before use. A spray bottle may work best for application.

*If possible, keep the serum in a dark colored, glass container. I only photographed it in a clear container so it was easy to see what I had made. In a clear container, sunlight will speed up the process of oxidation or deterioration of the oils.

Avocado oil is super moisturizing. Jojoba oil and aloe vera juice stimulate hair growth. They all help to smooth hair, add shine, and get rid of frizz. Aloe vera juice also reduces dandruff. To find out the benefits of rosemary and geranium oils here is my earlier post on the topic.
