This one is a difficult pill to swallow, but it's true for all of us. Majority of our own suffering is self-inflicted, caused by the meanings we assign to things, the stories we tell ourselves about events, the attachments we hold onto about how we want things to be different than they are. We all do this at different intensities, but we all do this to ourselves. Matt and I were discussing this very topic right before I found this quote. For some reason, we humans make things a lot more complicated than they are. We choose to kick and scream the entire way, unaware that we can get to the same destination in a much more pleasant way. We all go to the same destination in the end, and life really is about the journey, the how you choose to travel this life. If you can, try not to stand in your own sunshine along the way. Happy Weekend!
