Homemade gifts are special. They're special to give and they're special to receive, because of the time and love spent creating them. This week's simple pleasure is focused more on the making and giving of homemade gifts, because there's something beautiful about creating something with somebody in mind. It's like you get to feel the joy of giving the entire time you're making the item along with the actual time spent in the act of giving. My husband bakes these beautiful sourdough loaves and it's been such a joy to think of people to gift them to, to watch the dough rise, smell the loaves baking in the oven and then to present them to the receiver. We seem to have gotten away from homemade gifts as a society, and it might be nice to revisit this sacred tradition. Happy Weekend!
