Simple pleasures during these times

Even though we are all sheltering in place, there are still so many simple pleasures to enjoy. Today we went for a long walk with the dog and Matt stopped along the way to get me a Thai iced tea. I drank my tea as we walked and it was such a lovely treat. It was a simple pleasure. It got me thinking about all the simple pleasures we can be enjoying right now like breaks from FOMO, naps, finding new movies and shows to watch, spending real quality uninterrupted time with our families, sunsets and walks outdoors, baking yummy things, actually having time to read those books you’ve been meaning to get to, and relief from our once overly busy schedules. Then, there are the simple pleasures that we most likely have taken for granted, but aren’t likely to again after this pandemic passes such as meeting up with friends, taking fitness/yoga classes in an actual studio, meals in restaurants, buying things in actual stores, hugs with friends, handshakes, touching door handles and shopping baskets without fear, standing close to others when we talk, being able to see each others’ faces unobstructed by masks, museums and art galleries, and parties. So, take advantage of the simple pleasures available now, and when those we can’t enjoy once again become part of our everyday lives, take the time to practice gratitude for them and acknowledge the value they bring to our lives. Happy Weekend!
